Get the Look: Napa Valley Style By Kerrie Kelly, ASID

Being just a hop, skip, and a jump away from beautiful Napa Valley, our team incorporates all of its gorgeous elements into several of our design projects. Just a year ago Kerrie Kelly Design Lab participated in the Traditional Home Napa Show House event where we renovated a vintner’s master suite and sitting area. In the space we combined masculine style with thoughtful design details to create one of our favorite projects to date. Here are a few ways you can incorporate Napa style into your own space:

Opt for Mixed Materials

California’s wine country is composed of stunning wineries, restaurants and vineyard backdrops that serve as the ultimate inspiration for home design. One of our favorite takeaways from Napa Valley style is the implementation of various types of materials. The easiest way to incorporate this look is by selecting a variety of finishes that are diverse yet complementary. For example, a natural-fiber rug gets a refreshed look when a contrasting hide is layered over it.

Pattern Play

The perfect contrast to Napa’s relaxed ambiance is a space full of pattern. Mix small patterns and repeat large format prints for a truly impactful design. Our go-to pairings include a bold vertical stripe and floral print, large geometric shapes and small abstract configurations, and masculine patterns like herringbone with a subtle flair of pastel coloration.

Opulent Elegance

Last but certainly not least, add a touch of opulence with a glittering chandelier, antique accessories, or shiny finishes. Wine country style is characterized by its carefree charm, however it is often punched-up with glamorous lighting fixtures, bold color palettes, and elegant accessories.

Have you ever attempted wine country inspired design? What are some of your favorite ways to incorporate Napa’s cool and casual style into your own space?
